This whole thing was recorded on a ’90 Alembic Elan and is based on a carefree D major groove and it’s arguably the most upbeat track on the album.
Harmonics were recorded and doubled. One harmonics track was run through a Leslie simulator and the other one through a Ring Modulator effect, giving the whole thing an “electronic” sound. The title ‘Olympic Rings’ is a play on words as it’s really a ’90 Alembic Elan through a Ring modulator.
the bright “slide guitar” is in fact three separate tracks of an ordinary screwdriver vibrating against the G-string around the pickup area of the bass.
